Raid Goes Wrong: Dharwad Police Attacked by Gamblers, 3 Policemen Injured

Dharwad: Three policemen from the Dharwad Rural Police station sustained injuries when they were attacked by gamblers during a raid in Narendra village on Monday night on the occassion of Deepavali festival night. The gamblers assaulted a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) and two constables with bricks and stones, leading to their admission to the Dharwad district hospital for treatment.

Dharwad Superintendent of Police, Dr. Gopal Byakod, informed the Hubli Express that the police station staff had acted on a specific tip-off, prompting their raid. However, they encountered resistance from the attackers who pelted them with stones.

The SP further stated that eight suspects have been apprehended thus far, and efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining individuals involved in the incident.
